Dolores Beallor Commemorative Page

Here is a small selection of my mother’s artwork. She went to Music and Art High School and later graduated from Brooklyn College. She was also a gifted musician - a pianist, singer and guitarist; a private art teacher; a NYC public school teacher; and of course, a loving wife and mom. When she retired from teaching, she loved going to the Art Students’ League. She loved country music, too.

When my father met my mother, he didn’t want to call her Dolores, because that means sorrows in Spanish. And he didn’t want to call her by her school nickname, “Dodo” - well, for obvious reasons. So he nicknamed her Dodie, which means my beloved in Spanish, and the name stuck.
